Age 72 Years
Passed suddenly and peacefully away, surrounded by his loving family shortly after midnight on April 2, 2018 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital.
Predeceased by his parents Rita and John, brother George and sister-in-law Lorraine.
Left with cherished memories are his wife of 49 years Judy, children: Sharon (Chris Batstone) and Matthew; the lights of his life, his three grandchildren: Alison, Jack and Jayne; siblings: Jeannette (Ian McAllister), Doug (Lillian), Bill (Janet) and Diane (Roy), mother-in-law Pearl Dancey, sister-in-law Helen (Don Neimor) and brother-in-law John (Flo)
John leaves behind a long legacy of dedication, success and integrity, to the students of the Cooperative Engineering Program at MUN. As well, John established and operated the Second Page Bookstore, contributing to the local community and enriching many lives for over 25 years.
He will be remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge of classic movies and his never-ending supply of wit and corny jokes. Over the years, many people sought his sound advice, and appreciated his boundless generosity and guidance. He will forever be remembered by all who knew and love him.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue Tuesday April 3rd from 7pm-9pm and Wednesday April 4th from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Thursday April 5th at 11am, interment to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
