Thomas, Harrison William.

Passed peacefully away after a brief illness on July 7, 2018. Leaving to mourn his wife June (nee Rose), son Robert (Raelene), brother Alex and family (Nanaimo, BC), special cousins Judy, Diane and Marilyn (Marnie), and cousins, nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his father, William Albert, and mother, Beatrice May (nee Harrison), father and mother-in-law, Levi and Helen Rose, and sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Hubert Rose. Born in Winnipeg in 1932, Harrison came to Newfoundland in 1957 with the Canadian Marconi Company. He worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) from 1963, beginning as a radio announcer / operator until his retirement as a Technical Producer in 1988. While at the CBC, Harrison was the Technical Producer for Royal visits and the Papal visit to Newfoundland, the 1977 Canada Summer / Paralympic Games in Newfoundland and the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. After retirement from the CBC he worked in private radio broadcasting. Cremation has taken place. At Harrison’s request there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harrison’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Inurnment will take place at All Saints Cemetery, Gander, at a later date.
