Obituary for Dora Parrott (Dale)

Dora Parrott (Dale)
Parrott, Dora May (nee Dale) - Passed peacefully away at home surrounded by love and in the presence of her family at 1:30am on Sunday July 1, 2018. Dora was in her 93rd year. She was predeceased by her devoted husband and best friend Bill: parents: Jeremiah & Elsie Dale; sisters: Lillian, Florence (Eugene) MacDonald, Daisy (Ron) Simpson, Mary (George) Beverly; brother: Fred (Elaine) Dale. Left with loving memories her daughter: Donna-Rae (Earl) Pippy; son: Bill (Coleen) Parrott; daughter: Sharon (Pat) Short; beloved grandchildren: Adam Pippy, Iain Pippy, Amelia Parrott (Conrad Tulk), Colette Parrott (Ismar Muhic), Emily Short, Patrick Short (friend Kimmy Norman); great-granddaughters: Melody-Rae and Skylar Pippy; sisters-in-law: Ethel (Capt. Max Frampton deceased), Agnes (Roy) Cumby, Ann (Wilson Hiscock), Evelyn (Bob Parrott deceased), Eileen (Lorne Parrott deceased); and Earl Parrott (Betty deceased).
Dora was born in Lewisville, New Brunswick, where she was raised on a farm. There she developed her lifelong love of animals, especially horses. At seventeen she enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps where she attained the rank of Corporal and served from 1943-1945. In 1946 she met the love of her life Bill Parrott. They were married in 1947 and they lived "happily-ever-after" in New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador. Dora was a librarian who especially enjoyed assisting students, and who herself was a lifelong learner. Mom and Dad retired together in 1984 and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and taking pride in the accomplishments of their grandchildren. Mom was an avid quilter and community volunteer. Her quilts, with every stitch sewn with love, will be enjoyed by family and friends for years to come. We will miss her.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be at the Barrett’s Chapel on Wednesday, July 4 at 2:00pm.
