Parsons, Charles Edward – Passed peacefully away at home on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018. Charles
(Charlie) Parsons, age 76. For 38 years, Charles was a Lieutenant-Commander in the Canadian Naval Reserve. He was a first mate on the Norma and Gladys – a fishing schooner that was converted into a floating museum by the provincial government in the 1970s, and he was also Aide-de-camp to Fred Russell, former Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador. Charles was president of the St. John’s business, M.A Parsons, and in his spare time, he was an avid builder of model airplanes.
Charles is predeceased by his parents Clayton and Mabel; brothers: Stephen and Clayton Jr. He will be greatly missed by his partner Sandra March; siblings: Rodger (Barbara), Ina (Wayne Parrell), David (Janet), Francis (Jean Hewson); sister-in-law: Judy Parsons; special friends: Steve Foster and Bert Short. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Thursday, June 28th, 2018 from 2:00 -4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will take place on take place at Barrett’s Chapel on Friday, June 29 at 11:00 am. Inurnment will take place in Freshwater, Carbonear at a future date.
