BARTLETT, Dr. Donald R. – Passed peacefully away at home on Sunday, May 27, 2018, Dr. Donald R. Bartlett age 87 years. Predeceased by his sister Shirley. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his devoted wife Joy (nee Hewlett); daughter Robin (Paul Walsh); son Trevor (Janet); his wonderful and precious granddaughters: Allison, Kate and Jennifer; brother Glynn (Bernice); sister-in-law Jean Gosse (Melvin); brother-in-law Scott Hewlett (Lisa); nephews: Ken (Fauve) and Peter (Ashley); nieces: Crystal (Stewart), Leslie (Jamie) and Claire (Scott); also a number of other relatives and friends. Don graduated with Grade XI from a one room school and eventually completed four degrees and ended his career as a Professor of English at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He had a variety of interests which included a love of Literature, hockey, hunting, and, of course, gardening. He approached life with honesty, decorum, humility, and deep faith. Don enjoyed a long and full life, which he recognized and deeply appreciated. His quick, but gentle, humour and positive outlook carried him through life, including many medical conditions, without complaint. Sincere thanks to Robert Marshall, PCW, who made it possible to keep Don home during the past two years. We also thank Dr. R. Woodland, Dr. M. Stefanelli, Denise Murphy, and the Community Health Nurses for their support. Visitation to be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday from 7-9pm and then on Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service to be held from St. James United Church, Elizabeth Avenue on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to be held in Rattling Brook, Green Bay, NL at a later date.
