Condolence: I have happy memories of Dr.Lush while growing up on Cornwall Crescent. He seemed to be always laughing and made sure when i was around his house, being friends w Nancy and Sandra, he would include me too, and we'd go to Art Noseworthy's swimming pool in 3 Island Pond. Life will never be the same for his daughters and other family without him and his fun-loving spirit. Andrea Wells

Condolence: Sandra, Nancy, Janet and families / extended family,  Please accept our heartfelt condolences on Norm's passing.  Our hearts are with all of you as you face these difficult days ahead.  It's never easy to bid farewell to our loved ones and we share your sorrow. Your Dad loved and was loved.  He was one of the good guys who truly made a difference.  His light will shine on. We will miss that smiling face, the sometimes curt but funny comments, and the booming voice when he was calling out from the garden to Greta or one of the family (pets included.). We will miss his ambling walk as he surveyed all that was good in his garden that he loved and tended to so much.  And his music - he had that going all the time when he was up here 'in the country' and it became part of the neighbourhood vibe. ' You were a good friend and neighbour, Norm Lush.  Godspeed on this next journey.  You will be remembered by the many people whose lives you've touched.'

Condolence: Here we go.. We all say at some point in our lives, maybe after watching a movie about a superhero as a child, that we want to change the world. Maybe we all contribute a bit of change to this place in our own ways but there is only a tiny percentage of people who master the art of truly helping others. My grandfather was a neurologist and general practitioner for many years before he specialized. He travelled all over Newfoundland practicing medicine and practicing humility. •He came when you couldn't. •. He and my grandmother were the voice behind the Hub, an organization that many people still avail of and rely on to this very day. He was the founder of wheelchair sports and brought many people to life inside that circle. • He carried you when you couldn't. • He was the director of the Grace Hospital, where he oversaw the operations of a massive lifeline for every person who found themselves within its walls. He also started the outpatient rehabilitation clinic st the Waterford. He was dedicated to using his brain power in ways that would help him understand how other people's brains worked. • He thought when you couldn't• He won the prestigious Order of Canada award for his efforts in the disabled community. A community of people who, at that time, were not a community that had enough attention paid to it. I will always be so, so proud of him. I would be lucky if I can achieve a quarter of what this indestructible soul achieved. Being his granddaughter has been an achievement in itself. Getting to know this tall, loud, funny, brilliant, intelligent, incomparable person in a capacity only his grandchildren knew was an absolutely exciting, emotional, irreplaceable experience. He always told me I could do whatever I set my mind to and I'll never again take a day in this life for granted. • He believed in me when I couldn't • This man is the reason I want to be a nurse and I hope that he will be as proud of me as I have always been of him. My grandfather, the brain doctor, changed too many lives to count. He delivered new life, he helped grow those lives, he delivered the news that some of those lives would end. He did all of this with the utmost care, honesty and grace, always keeping in mind that people are fragile beings and the holistic approach he took to medicine was the same approach he took when it came to everything he encountered in his life. You can't truly help someone unless you look at the whole person; what you see and what's beneath the surface. His unrelenting urge to help other people is a quality that I know I inherited from him and I'll forever be thankful I had him in my life. • He healed us when we couldn't• A creator, a healer, an angel, a force to be reckoned with, an impossibly big heart, an incomparable spirit.. Grampy, Dr. Lush, you are my superhero. I love you and I'll miss you so much. I'll always hear your sweet voice singing Gypsy Rover. ❤️

Condolence: Nancy, Sandra, and Janet, I was so sad when I heard your father passed away. He was such an outgoing individual who made friends with everyone he met. He was a friend of my father going way back to when they were both starting their practices. Your father displayed such fortitude following the loss of your mother, and through all his health issues he remained pleasant and joking despite it all. It has been a hard road for all of you, but I hope that the example of resilience that your father set will help to carry you all through these very difficult times. My deepest condolences to you and your extended family.
